Operating time:
The link is an unattended node and shall operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Link tips:
Although the link is simple to use and a "talk and go" approach has been adopted. There a few basic requests..
Listen first?
Remember the link is simplex and may be in use by a station with a lot weaker signal than the link itself. On a conventional repeater you would hear them via the repeater output, but on a simplex link it's all to easy to transmit over the top of someone in error?
Please leave a short break of around 4 seconds between over's
This is a real must... to allow link stations to reset and any waiting stations time to break in etc. Keying up too soon means that remote links do not get a chance to reset and will often just stay in a state of permanent transmit as a result?
"Pass it over" to another station
Either by call sign or name, especially if there's a few people involved in the QSO. This is because Internet linking is much more prone to stations "doubling" with each other than conventional radio? Throwing it up in the air causes mayhem.
